I just wanted to duck into your newsgroup and say how impressed I was with the Chiefs today. They gave the Pats all the game they could stand. Of course, I was impressed with the way Priest Holmes had his way with the Pats defense. It's been a long time since a runner did that.
It seemed to me that the Chiefs are a well-coached team. And they certainly have no 'quit' in them. A lot of teams would have rolled over and played dead when the Pats went up 14 in the second half.
Props to the Chiefs.

DV's focus has been to put points on the board first and THEN focus on the D. I 'spect Robinson's under a microscope, now.

The Pats went from having a smoke and mirrors offense last season to an exposive offense that nobody has figured out how to stop, this year. Brady is playing out of his mind and the Pats have added two more NFL caliber wide outs and 3 NFL caliber tight ends. Those of us in NE are in shock at the offensive style of the team this year. I expected them to have a better passing game, but I certainly didn't expect Air Belichick.
Don't be so hard on the Chief's defense. The Pats are running mostly 5 wide receiver sets with five GOOD receivers and a quarterback with a quick release. That is very hard to defend unless you have six quality DBs.
It appeared to me that the Chiefs blitzed a lot more than we've seen from the Steelers or the Jets. I think that is probably a mistake because Brady is so decisive in making the read and getting rid of the ball. As well as Brady is playing right now, I think the best bet is probably to play soft, force him to make 5 yard throws, and hope you can tackle well. At least make him string together 10 or 15 plays in a drive to score.
I haven't seen anyone rip apart the Pats defense like that in almost a year. They'd only given up 64 points in their last five games (against the Steelers twice, the Raiders, the Rams, and the Jets). I'm sure that having all three starting linebackers on the bench in the second half had something to do with it. But, the Chiefs' running game looks unstoppable. I feel like the Pats are damned lucky to walk away from that matchup with a win.

Good post Harry..... But I still feel that Green is the number one problem with this team... He didn't take advantage of opportunities the 'D' gave him. His interceptions killed drives and put points on the board for NEP'S. Instead of throwing the ball out of bounds on his 2nd pick, he tried to make something happen on the move, when he had people open he was overthrowing the ball. The Chiefs had a chance to win this game, in my mind he was the biggest problem. Not to take away anything from Brady and the boys.... but I know they have to be a little shell shock right now.... The other teams in the league to play them will be feeding off this game tape..
