First of all, the review was correct in saying the Seahawks intercepted that pass. I know it's an obvious question, but why the hell did the Chiefs run a passing play with 1st and goal from the 1 yard line? If there were only a few seconds left, I could understand, but there was over a minute left! With Priest Holmes in the backfield, I just don't understand why you would run such a high risk play.

Another thing I don't understand is why Trent Green was so trigger-happy with the timeouts. Why would he call a timeout when we had the ball on the 1 yard line with 1 minute left, anyway?

And now, the asstacular defense has let the Seahawks drive 80 yards in under a minute for another touchdown. Unbelievable. The score should be 24-14, and because of this stupidity, it's 21-17. Absolutely ridiculous.

Couldn't agree more. When we got to the 2 yard line, I was yelling to run some clock, knowing that we would score with Holmes on the next play. Why would Green call time out? Even a delay of game penalty would have run the clock down 25 seconds...

Also, if we bliitz and get to Hasselback, it would be nice to see someone KNOCK HIM DOWN.....2 different plays that would have severely reduced the amount of time left in the half. I'm so tired of watching this defense. The only saving grace is that Holmes is running all over the place, so we should be able to move the ball in the 2nd half as well....

The Chiefs have to win this one. No win today, not even a remote chance of a playoff shot.

GO CHIEFS!!

I am utterly speechless. 1st and goal on the 2! Worst play call, worst possible result!

We're not gonna win...

DV spoke too soon about Greg 'Play it Soft' Robinson's defense! They have given up a pile of 20 + yards today. They can sit back and plan on enjoying post season at home again this year...

Yep. That cost the chiefs at least 7 points, because Seattle should not have gotten the ball back if the Chiefs don't score. Shouldn't have anyway, which makes it a possible 14 point swing. That was the game. The D was just too soft to make up 14 points.

Well, there's still a reMOTE chance. 10-6 will probably get 'em in. Trouble is, that'd require stopping Oakland's offense, which I don't see a Greg Robinson defense doing.

Best I c'n do is the box score, but watching the highlights during the Chokeland game, my concern was the KC offense striking quickly and then running their sorry-ass D-Line dependent Greg Robinson-style D, wearing themselves out to the point where those big plays get easier and easier to run, because the injury-riddled D-Line is on the field too long.

You can't run that D-Line dependent scheme of Robinson's unless you have a dominant D-Line-in-depth, and the whole bend-don't-break philosophy makes it very difficult to keep the D-Line intact, and once one guy gets hurt, the rest are like dominoes. The complex scheme requires a lot of unit cohesion, which you can't maintain properly, because you can't keep your guys healthy when they're on the field for so many snaps every game. Teams know they can take chances deep against KC, IMO, because they know it's a low-percentage proposition for KC's offense and either way, they get their offense on the field in a hurry and can pound on KC's dwindling DL.

I used to think Shanny was just snake-bit with D-Linemen, but it's becoming clear to me now that it's Robinson's ideas on defense that #1 require a dominant pass rush from the front 4 and #2 by giving up the underneath and middle, entail a high risk of injury to the front 4 by leavin' 'em on the field too long. IMO, they need a philosophy that #1 allows 'em to rotate their talent in and out and #2 gets their big men on D off the field in a hurry. A simple, one-gap, blitz-oriented scheme, with the players focusing on messing with the offense's mind, rather than having to think all the time about one too many responsibilities that some brilliant pencil-neck devised as the optimum.

Well, they did it once (more or less), but that was at Arrowhead. There's no way this team will run the table. Both Denver and Oakland will probably beat them, and the Rams have a good chance, too.

I'm convinced that most NFL teams are absolutely clueless when it comes to clock management. They're either calling unnecessary timeouts or spiking the ball with way too much time left to be doing either. It's like they can't tell the difference between 10 seconds left and 1:10

I think they're at LEAST as smart about clock management as EVER. The problem is that they're all trying to be so smart about EVERYthing that they out-smart themselves and are forced to burn a timeout to re-group, because the complexity opens them up to more small glitches. The end result is just what you're seeing, though. It gripes me the worst when I see an offense clicking against an off-balance defense. Instead of striking while the iron is hot, they relieve the pressure on the defense, giving THEM time to re-group.

Maybe it's just my KC bias, but it seems like I've seen more KC drives fizzle that were looking unstoppable because of this sort of stupidity.

That was, I thought, the worst defensive stand we had all year - until the third quarter started. No one could tackle. No pressure on Hassleback. Either the DBs were 5 yards off the recievers or called for interference. It hurt to watch.
