Greetings from Los Angeles. I'm gearing up in my silver and black to go to the Super Bowl to cheer on the Raider nation. I got into a conversation with some folks in a bar in Hollywood a couple of weeks ago, and mentioned some of my memories of cheering at Royals games, and going to see the Chiefs play before I moved here and starting supporting World Championship teams. But I digress. I mentioned something that puzzled my friend, and I realized it didn't make a damn bit of sense. So I'll post in this NG and the Royals NG, hoping for an answer:

Take Me Out to the Ballgame: Original lyrics : ...For it's root, root, root for ('the home team' Fans sing: For it's root, root, root for The Home Team

National Anthem (The freaking NATIONAL ANTHEM, People!!!!!!!) Original lyrics : ...and the home of the brave Fans sing : And the home of the Chiefs

Now two questions: 1. Do you not know the name of your baseball team, or do you think it actually is The Kansas City Home Team? 2. How anti-American do you have to be to spend Sundays at 1 Arrowhead Drive?

Anyhow, hope everyone's surviving the cold weather. Please stay indoors if

The difference is that in some ball parks (Edison Int'l Field to name one), the fans have the conscientiousness to NAME their home name (e.g., 'home of the RED SOX, home of the AN-GELS, home of the ROY-ALS'. I'm just curious why Take Me Out to the Ball Game is a reverent song whose lyrics can't be altered to add the personality for which the song was intended, but you alter the national anthem. It's a simple question. I got more of an answer than I expected, thanks for the requisite name-calling. And unlike most California residents, I had to become a Raider fan. I lived in KC through the Monday Night Meltdown, the Tait-Peterson debacle, seeing Isaac Byrd, Kevin Lockett, and June Henley get cut, etc. So it's not like I didn't spend my years wearing red and gold.
